Proposals: submissions@clarisonpress.com
Clarison Press considers proposals for reference works and guides from experienced practitioners and academics. Each title is written for a defined readership, whether advisors, investors, or families and heirs, and is held to the quality standards set out below. Titles are published in English, German and French.
Subjects
- Tax and estate planning, including income, estate, gift and inheritance tax.
- Financial planning and investment management.
- Assets, residences, heirs and trusts in more than one country, and the tax treaties that govern them.
- The administration of estates and trusts.
- Family enterprise: ownership, succession and governance.
- Family offices and philanthropy.
- Preparing the next generation of a family for ownership and responsibility.
Authors
Clarison Press publishes authors who meet the following criteria:
- At least one advanced academic degree in law, tax, accounting, finance or economics, such as a JD, an LLM, a PhD or a comparable degree.
- At least ten years of professional experience in the subject of the proposed title.
- A senior position in a law firm, a tax advisory firm, a university, a financial institution, a family office or a major company.
- Recognition as a leader in the field, shown by publications, teaching, professional appointments or the standing of the author’s practice.
Authors are typically attorneys, tax advisers, accountants, wealth and investment professionals, fiduciaries and academics.
Quality Standards
- Accuracy. The law and all figures are stated as of a named date, and every statement can be traced to its source.
- Full citation. Statutes, regulations, treaties, decisions and secondary sources are cited in full.
- Originality. The manuscript is the author’s own work and has not been published elsewhere. Quotations are attributed, and the author obtains any permission needed for material from third parties.
- A defined readership. The title is written for one readership and keeps to the register and depth that readership needs.
- A factual register. The text informs; it does not advertise the services of the author or of any firm.
- Precise language. Terms are defined and used consistently throughout.
What to Send
- A proposal of no more than five pages: the working title, the readership, the questions the title answers, a table of contents, comparable titles and how the proposed title differs from them, the estimated length, the language and the timetable.
- A curriculum vitae with degrees, professional positions and publications.
- One sample chapter.
Proposals are accepted as Word or PDF files. Where a proposal is of interest, Clarison Press asks for the complete manuscript.
Not Considered
Fiction, memoir and poetry; titles outside the subjects above; promotional material; and works already published, unless the rights have reverted to the author and the text has been revised.

Proposals are sent by email to submissions@clarisonpress.com, with the subject line “Proposal:” followed by the working title.
