Privacy Policy

Effective October 7, 2026. Deutsche Fassung · Version française

This policy describes which personal information Clarison Press collects through clarisonpress.com, for what purposes, with whom it is shared and what rights readers have. Clarison Press does not sell personal information under any circumstances.

1. Who is responsible

Clarison Press, 745 Fifth Avenue, Suite 500, New York, NY 10151, United States. Email: info@clarisonpress.com. For readers in the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, Clarison Press is the controller within the meaning of the applicable data protection law.

2. Information collected

Publication notices. A reader who signs up for a publication notice provides an email address and, on the page of The Advisor’s Guide to Cross-Border Matters, a name and, optionally, a firm or organization. On the page of Das amerikanische Vermögen, the reader may also ask to be informed about further German-language titles. On the page En français, the reader provides an email address to be informed when the first French-language title is published.

Contact form and email. A reader who writes through the contact form or by email provides a name, an email address, the subject and the message, and any further information the reader chooses to include.

Technical information. When the site is visited, the hosting service automatically processes technical information that every browser transmits, such as the IP address, the date and time of the visit, the page requested, the referring page, and the browser and operating system used.

3. Purposes and legal bases

  • Sign-up data are used only to send the requested publication notice and, where requested, notices of further titles. The legal basis is the reader’s consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
  • Contact data are used only to answer the enquiry and, where the enquiry concerns an order, rights or a review copy, to take the steps requested. The legal basis is the performance of a contract or of pre-contractual steps (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and Clarison Press’s legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Technical information is used to deliver the site, to keep it secure, to filter spam from the forms and to compile visitor statistics. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in the secure and efficient operation of the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Clarison Press does not use personal information for advertising and does not create profiles of readers.

4. No sale of personal information

Clarison Press does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, under any circumstances. Personal information is disclosed only to the service providers named in section 5, and only to the extent needed for the purposes in section 3, or where disclosure is required by law.

5. Service providers

The site is hosted on WordPress.com, a service of Automattic Inc., United States. Automattic processes the technical information described in section 2 to deliver the site, including the images and typefaces, which are served from Automattic’s own servers, to protect it, to check form submissions for spam and to compile visitor statistics for Clarison Press. Form submissions are stored in the site’s form archive at WordPress.com and are delivered by email to the mailbox Clarison Press uses for its correspondence. Automattic may set cookies for these purposes. Details are given in Automattic’s privacy policy and cookie policy.

Clarison Press itself sets no advertising or tracking cookies and does not track visitors across other websites. The site does not change its behavior in response to Do Not Track signals, because it does not engage in such tracking.

6. Transfer to the United States

Clarison Press and its hosting service are located in the United States, and personal information is processed there. For readers outside the United States, this means that their information is transferred to a country whose data protection law may differ from that of their own country. Where a reader sends an enquiry or signs up for a notice, the transfer is necessary to answer the enquiry or to send the notice the reader requested (Article 49(1)(b) GDPR). Information on the safeguards Automattic applies to international transfers is given in Automattic’s privacy policy.

7. How long information is kept

  • Sign-ups for the notice of a particular title, including those on the page En français, are deleted once that notice has been sent, unless the reader asked to be informed about further titles.
  • Sign-ups for general publication notices, and requests for notices of further titles, are kept until the reader withdraws consent.
  • Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to answer the enquiry and to handle any resulting order or request, and for no longer than three years.
  • Technical information is kept by Automattic in accordance with Automattic’s privacy policy.
  • Information is kept longer only where the law requires it.

8. Readers’ rights

Every reader may ask at any time which personal information Clarison Press holds about the reader, and may ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Consent to publication notices may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future, by a short email to info@clarisonpress.com; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the processing before it.

Readers in the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom have, under the data protection law that applies to them, the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restriction of processing, the right to data portability and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Articles 15 to 18, 20 and 21 GDPR). They may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country of their habitual residence (Article 77 GDPR).

Residents of California and of other states with consumer privacy laws may ask to know, to correct and to delete the personal information Clarison Press holds about them. Clarison Press will not treat any reader differently for exercising these rights.

Requests may be sent to info@clarisonpress.com or to the postal address in section 1. Clarison Press may ask for information needed to confirm the identity of the person making the request.

9. Security

The site is delivered only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to form submissions and to the email mailbox is limited to the persons who handle correspondence for Clarison Press.

10. Children

The site is not directed at children. Clarison Press does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16.

11. Changes to this policy

Clarison Press may update this policy when its practices or the law change. The current version is always published on this page, with its effective date.
